Early Fall Looks You Can Borrow From Summer and Autumn

Early Fall Looks You Can Borrow From Summer and AutumnI love early fall fashion. While it's still warm, the air is a bit crisper, the mornings cooler and it's just not so stifling outside. Between the opportunity to break out some early fall fashion paired with fresher feeling weather, it just feels good. But it's not full on fall yet and depending on where you live, it won't be for a while. This transitional season is the perfect time to create outfits that borrow pieces from both summer and fall. In today's post I am showing you some early fall looks that pair hot and cool weather together.

One of the early fall looks I like to create a sweater that I wear with ankle length pants and sandals. The sweater says early fall but the pants and sandals still hint at warmer days. In the look above, I styled this ivory tunic sweater from Boden with these navy ankle length pants from Theory. For a pop of subtle color, I used these burgundy sandals from Sam Edelman. However, with such a neutral base of navy and ivory you could pop in any color. Finishing the outfit, I layered the look with this lightweight scarf from Nordstrom, a soft blue tote from AllSaints and ivory drop earrings from Argento Vivo. The scarf adds a removable layer of warmth that can be added during fluctuations in temperature, which often happens in early fall.

This sleeveless shift dress from Lafayette 148 can be worn a few ways. You can style it on its own, with a cardigan or jacket over it, or with a slim turtleneck slipped underneath, like I did above using this Majestic turtleneck. You can't take the turtleneck on and off like you can a jacket or cardigan, so, to make this outfit more transitional, try baring your legs by styling the look with a pair sandals, like I did with this pair from MICHAEL Michael Kors. I finished the outfit with a navy bag from Furla and a pair of modern earrings in silver from Stella & Dot.

My favorite early fall piece is my navy blazer. I can wear it like a jacket well into the autumn season and it goes with just about everything. In the look above I am styling this navy blazer from Theory with a deep v-neck sweater from J. Crew and pairing both pieces with a pair of boyfriend jeans. The operative word here is layer. To keep this outfit from looking too autumnal, however, I styled the look with a pair of block heeled sandals from Via Spiga and finished the look with another layer using this printed scarf from Vince Camuto and accessorized with a cognac bag from Tory Burch, leather cuff from Sam Edelman and drop earrings from Kendra Scott.

The tip to creating early fall looks is to borrow pieces from summer and fall to create perfect transitional outfits. And don't forget to layer.
