INTERVIEWTell us about your current release. My current release is the fantasy adventure YA book Dragon Born, the first installment in a series of five. It is a story of magic, mystery, prophecies, and the celebration of friendship. What book are you reading now?I have just finished reading Archangel’s Enigma by Nalini Singh – I have loved every book in this series and this one was no exception! I was riveted from page one!As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? I always wanted to be a writer, well, except for a very brief stint where I thought I could be the first prima ballerina to dance the Swan Lake on the moon… I always did have a crazy imagination! What are your favorite TV shows? So many to choose from!! I love Grey’s Anatomy, Rizzoli and Isles and Criminal Minds – I love whodunits, forensic science and profiling! What songs are most played on your Ipod?Anything by Offspring, Greenday, Paramore and a whole bevy of Mozart and operas. I particularly love Carmen, La Traviata and the Barber of Seville and share my daughter’s obsession with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera! What do you do to unwind and relax?I bake cakes while dancing around the kitchen singing hugely off key at the top of my lungs – you should try it, it’s very therapeutic!Who should play you in a film of your life? Oh, I have never thought about that before… hmm, probably Sandra Bullock. She is a brunette with dark eyes, a friendly smile and merry mischief in her eyes. She is also funny and doesn’t take herself too seriously!Tell us about the absolute BEST fan letter you have received.I have had many kind and complimentary letters but one really stood out, it was from the mother of a ten year old boy who had read Dragon Born. She told me that her son was very dyslexic and had never managed to enjoy reading until he read my book. She said that since reading Dragon Born it has opened up a new world for him and he is now a bookworm. This is true success for me – I have managed to infect a child with the reading bug – it doesn’t get better than that! The letter also struck a chord as my daughter is dyslexic too and I wrote the book at her request for something she would ‘really get into’.What one word best describes you?Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Believe in the impossible!  ABOUT THE BOOKDragon BornEla Lourenco

BOOK REVIEW
4 STARS

I was given a free copy of this book with no review requirement.
I loved the fantasy world in which this story takes place.  The writing described the world in such a way that it was easy to picture in my mind.  I got caught up easily in the adventure, and read quickly because the story kept me interested and entertained.  This book has an open ending which is to be expected since this book will unfold in a series of 5 installments. I personally prefer to read a full story from start to conclusion, especially when the installments end with cliff-hangers, but this saga is definitely off to an amazing start!  Highly recommended for tweens and teens, and readers of any age who enjoy fantasy adventure. Reviewed by Laurie-J

Dragon Born by Ela Lourenco About the AuthorEla Lourenco lives in Scotland with her two daughters and husband. She has been an avid reader since childhood and has long enjoyed mysteries, mythology and anything related to the paranormal/supernatural/mystical/science fiction. She loves nothing more than making up stories about faraway people and places (helped somewhat by a mind that just won't grow up!). When she isn't nose deep in a book or writing herself she can be found dancing around the kitchen whilst baking. Her biggest wish in life is to infect others with a passion for reading.
