For our Wedding/Family visiting Vacation, we went to Pittsburgh & Harrisburg PA. Friday, on 3 hours of sleep, we hopped on a plane bright & early to Pittsburgh with only 1 meltdown in the airport pre-boarding. My MIL had connections through her work, so we were able to get a 3 room suite at the Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport Hotel for a steal. It was perfect! The hubster & I had our own room, they had their own room & there was a huge room in the middle for K to run around & burn off her energy, plus a fridge stocked with snacks. After getting settled in, we met up with some of R’s old college friends & roomates. He LOVES German food, so we went here:
It was insane! The place was packed because it was a Friday night & I have never been in a place more loud or been so afraid of beer being dumped on my head from people singing & “white people” dancing on the benches & tables. It was a great time though. Seriously, look at these beers!
Since it was starting to get crazy loud in there, we went across the street to a local Irish pub. After watching & making fun of middle aged people grind on each other until 1am, it was FINALLY time to head back to the hotel to get some sleep before we had to get up & have another long day ahead of us. The hubster had more to drink than he planned on, so guess who got to drive the Chevy Cruze rental barefoot in the biggest city she’s ever visited & never driven in? Yep, that would be me. Not helping matters AT ALL, he was trying to pull a George {my FIL} & give the grand tour while I was trying to drive instead of telling me where to go. Fun! NOT! I mentally strangled the crap out of him so many times! We made it back to the hotel safe & sound, but then he informs me, “Hey we have to leave 2 hours earlier than we thought because of the Kenny Chesney concert tomorrow.” Another mental strangle session. I just wanted sleep!
I slept as hard & fast as I could until 6:45 am when the Princess decided to bang on the door & crawl in the bed with me with the hotel telephone. The joys of motherhood folks. You’re on vacation with 3 helpers & you are STILL woken up early. *FAIL* Thankfully, she went back next door after about an hour & I was able to catch a few more hours of sleep before having to get ready for the all day Wedding Event. We got to the church after sitting in Kenny Chesney concert traffic & road construction minutes from the church. I would have been SO stressed out if I had been the bride. What are the freakin’ odds, right? Everyone made it to the church & it was such a lovely ceremony. The groom was choking up the whole time & it was just so sweet. We had some time between the ceremony & cocktail hour so we went & checked in at another hotel & had some lunch. On the way to the reception, this Kenny Chesney chaos was going on:
People started tailgating at 10 am & people were STILL drinking at 2 am in their bikinis, sunburnt as all get out in booty shorts & cowboy boots! INSANE! When we left the reception, I’ve never seen so much trash {I mean litter} in a parking lot in my entire life! The local news said it took the city from Sat-Wed to clean it all up! YIKES!
After great food, drinks & great times at the wedding reception, we headed downstairs to the Casino bar where we saw this little gem & yes, he was wearing that shirt! I was dying!
