Door of the Month: Saint Paul Church

I pass Saint Paul Church daily, as it is a few doors from my apartment and I also stop in front of it to show my tour clients on my Marais tour.
For some inexplicable reason I have never featured the magnificent doors on Door of the Month. About three years ago the façade of the church was completely restored and the doors, originally a drab, muddy brown, were painted a rich, cherry red.
The church is actually called Saint Paul- Saint Louis. It was constructed from 1627-1641 and it was the first Jesuit church of Paris,  built by Jesuit architects Etienne Martellange and Francois Derand. King Louis XIII laid the first stone in 1627 and Cardinal Richelieu said first mass on May 8, 1641 on The Feast of the Ascension.
There is a rare Delacroix painting, Christ in Agony on the Mount of the Olives.
