Doodling with a Ball-pen, New Year Holidays...

By Pmeurice
After spending the christmas break in France, we came back in the UK, enjoying the bank holiday weekend - restful times...
I was sorting out some old photographs archives and came up on some images taken in the southwest of France, some years ago : As we were having a walk, passing by a farm, we spotted a majestic rooster protecting half a dozen of very shy hens... The brief was not impressed with us, sure of his strengths - maybe a bit presumptuous and arrogant? - watching us passing by, convinced his imposing presence would be sufficient to leave his barnyard at peace. He allowed us, though, to take a couple of pics...
this rooster was the rightful subject of a drawing study, the first of the year, and opening what will be - very soon - his Year. Here he is :

A Rooster - 2017 - 45X45cm

This drawing was casually made with a ball-pen. It was somehow fun to practice etching without having any sort of right to correct the lines - it forced me to reflect and try to think of where I wanted to lead the drawing to...
I found this technic and this drawing interesting. Maybe i'll use it as a basis for some digital work (some thing I have been thinking of, recently... we'll when we have the time to dig into it). In the meantime - Happy New year to all...
