Does Romance Exist Like It Does In Books?

I love my books, I love all kinds of books to read. Admittedly I was one of the first to jump on the Fifty Shades books when they first come out and I loved them. Still do. I’ve just finished reading a book called The Boy Who Sneaks In My Bedroom Window. But does romance exist like it does in books?

I loved fifty shades because it was a powerful love story.
I love bared to you because its a moving love story.
I love the boy who sneaks in my bedroom window because its beautiful and every girls dream.

My favorite book of all time is What Dreams May Come. That book encompasses everything I would want in life and death. It resonates with me, my beliefs, my hopes.

The problem I have with books is they are so beautifully captured that quite often the movies based on them don’t do the author justice. Its a bug bear of mine.

Today I watched Children Of A Lesser God. I have the book too. I loved the story and I love William Hurt in his younger days mmmm, so watching the movie I was surprised how it was done. I wanted him to fall in love with Sarah and have his happy ending. I also wanted to push her off a cliff for kissing him but that’s just me.

Armageddon, Titanic, When a man loves a woman, that film with the bunny boiler. They all depict different kinds of love. Once you get past the obligatory sex scenes the love bit connects.

But the truth is Christian Grey isn’t real. He isn’t out there. We have fell in love with his image, his description, the words we read not an actual physical person.

Edward Cullen isn’t real. There is no headstrong classical musical loving vamp out there waiting to bite us. The closest we have is Count Duckula. Cute but small ya know.

Armageddon isn’t real. But you have to hope somewhere there’s a guy just like that guy who straps himself to the rocket at one point and also starred in board walk empire.

My point is movie love isnt real love. Its a fake portrayal of a real emotion.

No man in real life would walk through hell ( literally) to save your soul, no man would wait for you while you go do rehab for drinking. In the real world men are shits!

One of my favorite films is The Time Travellers Wife. So sad, so romantic. A typical man who misses his own wedding night as he is off talking to his 6 year old wife. ( watch it if you think im joking), who cant stay long enough to play snap but loves his wife, this one woman since he saw her as a child and always finds a way back to her.

That should be real life.

Women see these men, the Christian Greys and Gideon Crosses of the literal world and it ignites that thought: what if he is out there ?

But then how can any man measure up to impossible standards?

I wish with all my heart that that kind of heart pounding, stomach turning, pantie disintegrating love was real. But its not.

Or am I wrong? Does Romance Exist Like It Does In Books?
