Do Your OM Thing
Synopsis: Sometimes an hour-long yoga class is the only chance we get to connect meaningfully with our bodies and our minds during an otherwise hectic week. For a brief moment we’re able to let our worries melt away and feel relaxed, centered, and fully ourselves. Have you ever wondered how it would feel to bring that experience out of the yoga studio and into your everyday life?
In Do Your Om Thing, master yoga teacher and creator of the popular blog OmGal.com Rebecca Pacheco shows us how to do just that. The true practice of yoga, she says, goes deeper than achieving the perfect headstand—it is about bringing awareness and intention to every part of our lives. In her warm, personal, and often hilarious prose, Rebecca translates yogic philosophy for its twenty-first-century devotees, making ancient principles feel accessible, relatable, and genuinely rooted in the world in which we live today. My Thoughts:
This was such a great book! I mean truly! I'm fairly new to yoga and although have many friends and family members who have told me to continue to try it over the years, I finally feel as if each time I practice, I feel so much better about myself. When I first moved to Atlanta almost a year and a half ago, was applying for jobs and watching my one and a half year old at the time, I was people deprived, sleep deprived and 'me' deprived. I needed to figure out a way to get back to myself. Yoga was my answer and each class I went to, I felt more in certain with who I am and who I wanted to be. This book shares so many insight points about Rebecca's own personal journey and shared a deeper meaning of what yoga is ( not just crazy poses )!
