DIY: Sleeveless Flannel

By Sars @RockinAroundThe

Why only rock flannel when it’s cold?

Flannel Vest

When you get rid of the sleeves, you can werq it all year long.  Is this unique and original?… Nope, but the sleeves of this flannel got on my nerves.  I also haven’t worn this shirt in like two years.  It’s pretty self explanatory, but here’s how to give your flannel a quick makeover.

DIY Sleeveless Flannel

Grab an old flannel, and use fabric scissors to cut the sleeves off.

Spring Flannel

Turn the flannel inside out, and do a little clean up.  Cut as close to the sleeve seam as possible.  I didn’t want to throw the leftover fabric away, but I didn’t know what to do with the sleeves.  I thought about making a headband, but I just didn’t feel like it.  So…

DIY Dog Toy

I tied the little clean up scraps in knots and gave it to Gus as a toy.

Big Elle

But Big Elle got jealous.  So, I tied a couple knots in one of the sleeves and made her a big girl toy!  I still have one sleeve left, and I don’t know what to do with it yet.

DIY Flannel Vest

A sleeveless flannel is not only stylish, but versatile.  Here’s a few different ways I plan on rocking it:

  • As a vest
  • Tucked into high-waisted shorts
  • Unbuttoned and belted over a tee dress
  • Buttoned and tucked into a pleated skirt
  • Untucked but buttoned with boyfriend jeans and booties
  • Under a sweater, serving up a pop of collar

Without the sleeves, a flannel isn’t bulky… so you can get a lot more wear out of it.
