I spotted this gorgeous Maison Michel hat on the lovely Kristina (below) and Khloe Kardashian, and I fell in love! But $400-$700 for a hat feels a little wasteful, especially when you can make your own!
DIY time!
I knew this DIY would be perfect for my trip to Mexico, so with 20 minutes until leaving for my flight, I whipped out some paint, ribbon, and an old but beloved hat (worn here & here,) and got to work!
SUPPLIES
blue Acrylic paint / textile medium / black ribbon / a paint brush / scissors / extra strength double sided tape
1. Mix the paint and textile medium with equal parts. Spread evenly over the entire top of the hat. Wait for the paint to dry.
2. Wrap your ribbon around the base, cut to size and use double sided tape to secure the length. To finish off the ribbon cut a small piece, cover with double sided tape and wrap around the seam.
3. Use it!
