Diy: Headband Display

Posted on the 31 January 2012 by Litinspired
today i am going to share how to make your own headband display. a friend asked me to make one for her daughter a few months ago. yes, i am a bad friend. it took me three plus months to make it. ugh, i feel horrible.
hopefully the complete adorableness of it will make up for the time it took me to finish it.
i am completely in love with it. i will probably make one for myself and someday when i have a daughter of my own, i will make one for her too.

it is super easy to make. here are the supplies that you need:
- cylinder item { i used an empty oatmeal container. you could also use a paper towel roll } - batting - fabric - spray adhesive { i used elmer's but a glue gun could also work. } - buttons { optional } - ribbon - candle stick holder - spray paint
warning: bad blogger tutorial ahead. i didn't take step by step photos - yikes! but it is super easy and you should be able to follow along without any trouble. if not, send me an e-mail or leave a question in the comments and i will be happy to help.
[ 1 ]
take the candlestick outside and spray paint. let dry.
[ 2 ]
empty your oatmeal into an air tight container then wipe out empty container with a damp cloth.
[ 3 ]
cut batting and fabric to size. i simply wrapped the batting around the cylinder and cut roughly to size and then repeated for the fabric. note: my fabric was cut from a fat quarter so you won't need that much.
[ 4 ]
in small sections i sprayed my adhesive spray and laid down the batting. i continued all the way around.
[ 5 ]
once the batting was glued i trimmed up any extra material.
[ 6 ]
repeat steps 3 and 4 with fabric.
[ 7 ]
optional: glue buttons on for additional detail.

[ 8 ]
take ribbon and glue to the inside rim of cylinder. this will hide the fabric edges. i used e600 glue for this job. a glue gun would also work.
[ 9 ]
glue candlestick to the bottom of cylinder to create base.

finished! now, just add headbands.

i hope she loves it. i think it is adorable.
this project can be adapted for any decorative style and was pennies to make!
