With Valentines day on the way and me not celebrating that, I thought of another way of giving someone flowers that was less expensive and well, more from the heart than from the pocket. What better than a DIY flower mug!

I didn’t use a sharpie, I used a porcelain and glass pen which should go through the dishwasher ok, but I’ll let you know later if it doesn’t stay well!

1. You will need : A mug, a normal piece of paper with your design on, scotch tape (for the line at the top) a pencil and a porcelain pen.2.Tape the top of the inside and outside of the mug making sure the line is fluid and well stuck down.

3. With the tape in place, draw the line.4. Scribble over the back of the design with the pencil, making sure you cover all areas where the design falls.

5. Tape the design onto the mug to avoid slipping, draw firmly over the design with the pencil . This transfers the design onto the mug without marking it permanently.6. Using the transferred design as a guide line draw in the flowers. If you make any mistakes use rubbing alcohol, it cleans the mug off perfectly. (I had to redo the flowers because I found them very low on the mug.) Let the paint dry for 3 days before use.

There you have it, I may go and make my mug useful and make another hot chocolate with cream on. Click here for a pdf of the flowers pattern.
