Now we all know how hard it is to find quality stylists who listen and question you the right way. I find in Hong Kong that my color will fade and that is probably due to the sun. How wrong was I? my color is fading due to the wind and it has a dehydrated look, which you naturally attribute to using hair color, but as Dean explains it’s the elements at work and primarily the wind that is both the hot or medium heat from your hair dryer and the wind from the air-conditioner or fan, as well as the wind in the street or at the beach.

So when you meet with Dean for a hair color he will find out how your hair is working in terms of the hair health from color to color. Based on that information he can prepare the hair correctly prior to color, advise you what to do before you come in for a color, and explain how to protect it until the next time.

First of all I always wondered why would you color the hair first before cutting, Dean tells me that the scalp will have a natural film on it, this is not a dirty scalp but a protection of slight oil that sets ups a buffer between the scalp and the hair colors. If your scalp is sensitive during color, talk to Dean about this fact so he can re-look at your home care, you may be removing oils that you need to keep so that the scalp is protected.
Dean works on “trend” he likes to take your color to a new level of experience especially as we change season, he is a colorist who works with dimensions in color so that the eye moves across the hair and light lifts the colors rather than just a one block of flat color.
I had a few highlights set in the front to lift the hair and give depth while the rest was a mix of natural brown with ash brown to offset the warm lights for autumn.
An excellent hair care line called ‘Juuce” from Australia was Dean’s main staple, and a product review on Juuce will follow, just to mention one outstanding product from Juuce was MAJIK an intense-lok for all dry fragile hair that needs heat protection. This little gem is used for about a week after a hair color, so any time water has been on the hair apply a small amount into the hair, massage lightly and lock in the color just like magic!
