Hesitantly we trace the barbed perimeterStepping around the black earthAvoiding the sinking depthsEstablishing ourselves on Edwards Path.North of Gutter TorAbove the mireThe path bends east and southConverging with a blasted trackTo meet up at Warren House.Round the rise of Eastern TorLeaping across the streamEmerging from Drizzle CombAnd on to the slopeWhere the diverging lines appear.Nervously the landscape reveals its secretsShy at firstPerhaps embarrassed at what they didBut strengtheningProud of her achievementsGiving the topographic giftsTo the ancient stone splitters.
