By Rishiraj @beautyglimpseIn

Monsoon means wonderful showers, soothing breezes and a great relief. Well, it means clogged pores, skin eruptions and fungal infections too! So, what are the ways to get the most out of the rainy season without compromising with the health of your skin? Nothing but a comprehensive daily skin care routine. Here we go:

Ditch Monsoon with These Superb Skin Care Tips

Cleanse Your Skin
Whether you have a dry or an oily skin, cleansing it religiously is the first and foremost step that you should take during monsoon. Just keep aside your packet wipes and opt for a thorough cleansing method to put a stop to pore clogging, bacteria upsurge and unwanted break-outs. A good quality soap-free cream or milk based cleanser is ideal for using in monsoon as they can eliminate all traces of dirt, dust and unnecessary oil from the pores and let the skin breathe easily. Wash your face with it at least 3 times a day and splatter cold water on it as many times as possible.

Exfoliate Regularly
During monsoon, the uppermost layer of our skin gets dried. This layer of dead cells needs to be eliminated from our skin through exfoliation in order to avoid pigmentation and dullness. Use a gentle scrub with mild beads on every alternate day to get rid of those dead skin cells and invigorate your skin properly. A healthy and glowing skin can also be obtained by undergoing 30% Glycolic Acid Chemical Peel treatment twice a month.

Tone It Up
Due to the high level of humidity in the air, monsoon takes a toll on our skin pores and makes them open. Choose a good quality alcohol-free toner for applying to the skin twice a day. It will keep up the standard pH level in your skin and tone it up perfectly. It is even better to go for a mild aloe-rich toner that will revitalize your skin and make it light as well as shiny.

Keep It Moisturized
Perspiration can rip off natural moisture of your skin thereby making it dry and flaky. Pick an effective moisturizer, which is non water-based and very light to the skin. It will get absorbed almost instantly without making the skin greasy and give you a healthy and soft skin by restoring its lost moisture. Apart from the moisturizer, you can also opt for vitamin – rich body lotion or a homemade moisturizing remedy containing glycerine, almond oil and rose water.

Provide Sun Protection
Just because the days are gloomy, does not mean that your skin is not getting affected by the damaging ultraviolet (UV) rays of the sun. So, make sure that you always provide the ultimate sun protection to your skin by using a high-quality sunscreen or sunblock. The Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of the product should be high and it should not get washed down fast.

Stay Hydrated
As said before, monsoon snatches away the natural moisture of our skin. So, you must maintain the standard level of water content of your body by increasing your water intake. Try to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day to keep yourself hydrated and stay away from fungal infections as well. You can also fulfill your daily need of fluid by consuming fruit juice, vegetable soup, blanched salads, and so on. However, steer clear from caffeine as well as alcohol as they will keep your skin happy and enjoy the amazing showers!
