Devil’s Due (2014)

Devils DueMatt Bettinelli-Olpin directs the latest “horror” film about demonic impregnation.  Zach (Zach Gilford) and Samantha (Allison Miller) have a honeymoon that literally changes their lives.  After a disturbing session with a palm reader, the couple is tricked into going to a famous “club” on the outskirts of town.  The next morning the couple has no clue how they got to their apartment, but figure they must have had a good time.  And by good time they must mean that Samantha was impregnated with an anti-Christ.

While I could provide a bit more detail on the plot of the film, I will not because it would be pointless.  Devil’s Due is one of the worst “horror” movies I have ever seen.  There are so many plot holes in this storyline you’d think you were served a chunk of Swiss cheese.  If you are a fan of the genre I implore you to rent The Conjuring or Insidious: Chapter Two instead of wasting 89 minutes of your life that you will never get back.

The film tries to mix other films (i.e. Paranormal Activity and The Omen) as if that makes this one original.  Its intentions are laughable.  The movie is dreadful.  After reading other poor reviews I was inclined to stay home.  I only watched this movie because of last week’s viral video and the fact my companions to watch this film refused to switch films.  (I hope they learned their lesson :))

To reiterate: DO NOT waste your money, time or any brain cells.  This movie is not worthy of watching in theaters or renting.  And for those who don’t trust me, then remember that I warned you after your sure-fire disappointment.

MPAA Rating:

Running Time: 89 minutes

My Grade: Devil’s Due deserves a D
