Yesterday the ex-DJ Dave Lee Travis was arrested on suspicion of sexual offences, then released on bail in connection with Operation Yewtree.
(It must be stressed that the allegations against DLT are not directly related to Jimmy Savile, whose posthumous ousting as an alleged paedophile sparked the investigation. Operation Yewtree was initially a police investigation that became a full criminal investigation when they began to suspect living individuals of alleged sexual abuse.)
He is a patron of PACE who compered the Children’s Challenge event last May, which Isobel participated in. Today the charity released a statement to parents, which I quote from here:
You may be aware that Dave Lee Travis, who is a patron of PACE, was arrested and bailed in connection with Operation Yewtree.
As a supporter of PACE since 1995 DLT has been a great help to our charitable work, through his connection with The Master Photographers Association and by helping us at events such as our charity Golf Day and many black tie fundraisers.
DLT has always been a model of good stewardship at PACE events and visits. In 2009 he was honoured to be asked to become a patron of the charity, and remains a great help to us as we enter our 22nd year.
We will, of course, monitor the current situation closely and keep you updated.
