The P-40 achieved immortality as the aircraft of the American Volunteer Group, the Flying Tigers, defending China from Japan during the early years of WWII. This Kittyhawk (the English name) was purchased by the Royal Air Force and delivered in 1941, then issued to the Royal Canadian Air Force that operated it until 1946. This beautiful example has gone through two restorations in its lifetime and is based at Livermore, CA. Over 13,700 P-40s had been built by the time production ended in December 1944.
