COOPER SQUARE HOTEL, New York City, New York

By Jaclynsindia @siennacharles

I breezed through the hotel lobby, marveling at the beautiful stonework on the floor. I then found myself in the lounge, where, amazed at the books that surrounded me, I wasted no time in scanning the literary offerings. From Atonement to Dr. Zhivago, a myriad of choices were available, all provided by Housing Works and available for sale. In fact, proceeds from book purchases fund actions towards ending AIDS and homelessness in NYC.

I continued to look around me and I noticed a leather grey sofa with a fireplace in the cozy lounge. Just outside, there is a garden, available for lazy afternoons and serviced by the in-house restaurant, the Trilby, which is the place to be especially at night. This gastropub, dressed in black, grey, and tones of burgundy, offers fare that is reminiscent of comfort food from the owner’s native South Germany. There is another bar area on the 2nd floor, which is great for after-work cocktails and group parties.
