The Construction giant Dewalt which is undoubtedly one of the best construction companies, has now entered into the smartphone market with a tough Android-powered handset, which has been designed for building industry workers.

The device has been designed in order to survive a 2m drop on to concrete and it can operate even rough temperatures ranging from -20C to 60C. The device however stays on the higher side when it comes to pricing as it amount to £379 ($544)However it is to be noted that rival Caterpillar has already established itself as a brand in the physically tougher smartphone sector.

For a smartphone to be certified as a “tough phone”, the handsets need to undergo more rigorous physical tests, including being subjected to tumbling – turned over and over inside a device for long periods of time. They also need to be water and dust proof. While most of its specifications remain fairly standard for the sector, the Dewalt’s MD501 phone comes with in-built QI wireless charging, which is an additional benefit.

The phones touch screen is made of Gorilla glass that also works fine with gloved hands. The battery is also an added advantage to these phones as they can house a big battery, As of now
this mobile is manufactured in collaboration with Global Mobile Communications, a rugged phone specialist.
