It’s been almost a year since I embarked upon my grand sailing adventure with Helly Hansen. In Scandinavia, they’re a home-grown super-cool brand, which generates the same patriotic affection as Burberry might here in the UK, so it’s been a bit of a dream partnership for me! Our journey led us from the tropical waters of Barbados to the blustery shores of Cowes where we smashed it to earn a massively unexpected medal position. To celebrate, we’ve put together a Winter Starter Pack of super technical clothing kit & accessories, which one super lucky reader will win! Click MORE to see what’s in the bundle (which is  worth over £650!!), and how to enter!

Over the time I’ve been working with Helly Hansen, I’ve had the most wonderful opportunities. Firstly I’ve improved my sailing, both practical and academic, having achieved my Royal Yachting Association accreditations at the Docklands Sailing & Watersports Centre – a fantastic sailing accreditation which is available at a pretty reasonable cost, all over the country! You’ll learn how to set up a sail, gain ‘weather condition’ understanding, as well as the more technical aspects of the spinnaker (hoisting, trimming, gybing etc!). I’ve  also been incredibly lucky to sail in Barbados on a mammoth ‘MOD 70‘ trimaran, which is the holy grail for any competitive sailor. And finally, as the icing on a most indulgent cake, the chance to compete at Cowes week where we took bronze. It’s been the most amazing adventure.

THE COMPETITION BIT…

Thank you to  everyone who’s joined me on this adventure through the blog. My time with Helly Hansen’s On The Horizon campaign has now come to an end, but it doesn’t stop there! We’re now going into the winter season, and there are a host of wonderful active outdoor destinations around the world you can visit – a favorite of mine being Port Ferdinand in Barbados due to my idyllic time there with Team Concise (you might spy a few pictures below!)- but the great outdoors offers plenty of frostier Nordic activities too. To mark the occasion, and the changing of the seasons, team Helly and I have put together an awesome pack of Winter Essentials to get you through your own active adventures! Having worn the clothes since I was a teenager, I can testify to their technical credentials; if they kept me warm and dry in the Swedish tundra, they should do the job for you too…

TO ENTER: just head over to my Instagram today (the 7th of October) and comment on the picture telling me where you’d like to sail on your own adventure, and in two weeks time, I’ll select a winner based upon how awesome your sailing journey sounds!

Best of luck!
