ColourPop Cosmetics Creme Gel Colour in Piggy Bank

By Kwilliford @ExquisiteEczema
I am kind of shocked I haven't reviewed this for you guys sooner, but it isn't a product I reach for a lot. I love ColourPop because they have a lot of great products with a wide color selection, and they are about as budget friendly as a brand can get. I love their creme gel liners, but I am not as excited about the creme gel colours. At least in the matte finishes. I haven't tried any of the metallic ones yet.

Let us start with the color. Piggy Bank is stunning and I certainly haven't seen anything quite like it. ColourPop describes it as a "vivid red violet" which is pretty spot on. I love using it for a pop of color on the eyes.

I love the color about as much as I hate the formula. The creme colors are gel liners that are supposed to be as smooth and easy to apply as a liquid liner. Yeah...not so much. This eyeliner requires so much effort and time to apply, which is why I don't use it a lot. I know ColourPop products have to be stored well, meaning that they cannot be exposed to air for long periods of time. So you want to make sure the lids are closed tight and you don't leave anything open for awhile. I did that and this liner is as a dry as some of my matte liquid lipsticks. I can barely even work with it because it is so dry. It is impossible for me to line my eyes with one brush stroke. I have to work in segments and clean my brush after each use because it globs up in the brush and makes things even more challenging. It also flakes off and looks patchy if you get close up. Once I finally get everything applied, it actually looks nice, but it lacks the color payoff I would expect from such a bright color.

It actually swatches a lot better than it applies. It also doesn't feel anywhere near as dry if you were to use a brush to swatch it. And that is actually something I should have done for this review. You can still see some of the patchiness and how uneven it is with just a finger swatch. This has all been my experience from the moment I ordered it, which has been quite a few months.

Again, their creme gel liners are amazing and nothing stays better on the water line, but the matte creme gel colours are a pass for me. I do have the shade Brew-Ha-Ha and I had pretty much the same experience. I don't think the texture was as dry with it, though.
I just wanted to do a quick post about it in case any of you guys were considering it. Even though the texture isn't the greatest, I am glad I have it in my collection because it is such a fun liner to use.
See you soon!
xoxo
