sirloin sandwich with no bread

I always look for recipes full of color, taste and flavor. But as a health conscious person, I am selective to certain recipes with less fat and calories. Sandwich is one of the most attractive category of food for its easy preparation. How can I make a sandwich super healthy?

- Have you heard of a sandwich with no bread?

Sounds crazy if a sandwich has no bread. But it is possible. Use Kale leafs, Romain lettuce leafs or cabbage leafs. How? It is easy. all these leafs are as strong as a bread slice. choose your flavor that goes best with your sandwich and separate 4 layers; 2 for top and 2 for bottom of the sandwich.

- Do I really need a mayo based spread?

One of the fattiest part of the sandwich is the common mayo base spread. Eliminate Mayo but keep the flavor. Combine fresh squeezed lemon or lime juice with fresh orange juice, a little bit of garlic pure, extra virgin olive oil and touch of aged balsamic vinaigrette. Add a bit of zest to it with a bit of black pepper and pomegranate extract. Mix well and this spread can go with every sandwich base.

- Lean it or clean it.

If using meat for your sandwich, chose the leanest part or else, you have lot of working out to do.

The tastiest part of beefs are the fattiest parts. But the healthiest combined with taste are the leanest part of the beef without fat;

According to MayoClinic.com  :

“Twenty-nine cuts of beef now meet the USDA’s regulations to qualify as lean or extra lean. Of those 29 cuts of beef, these are considered extra lean:

  • Eye of round roast or steak
  • Sirloin tip side steak
  • Top round roast and steak
  • Bottom round roast and steak
  • Top sirloin steak”

To get the extra lean meat, ask your local butcher to help you.

For chicken and fish, use filet and breast. For the preparation, use garlic, lemon and spices to bring out its flavor.

Here is a great recipe of Sirloin sandwich with no bread:

Cook and slice your lean cut of marinated top quality sirloin. I suggest marinating the beef for at least few hours before cooking it.

Marinate mix:

- Lemon juice and pieces

- Black Pepper

- Slices of garlic and onion

- Turmeric

- 1 cup of beer

I suggest grilling the cut of sirloin, but it also is perfect inside the oven.

Place the cooked chicken on two fresh organic romaine leafs layered on top of each other. Add fresh organic vegetables such as Tomato, red bell pepper, fresh basil, chopped green onion and little bit of fresh green olive to replace salt.

place the other two pieces of lettuce right on top and wrap it with a paper or aluminum foil.

Bon appetite.
