Color Me Rad, the Start of My Marathon Training

By Verybusymama @verybusymama
Yesterday I ran (more like walked) a 5K race in Alexandria. It was purely for entertainment purposes —  there wasn't even a giant stopwatch to tell you what your time was. It was all about the FUN!
It was the Color Me Rad race, the one where you are covered in colored cornstarch from head to toe and experience "the art of running" — well sort of!
I had registered for it two months ago thinking I would start running, but the weeks went by and NADA. I have lost about 12 lbs on Medifast, but you need to exercise as well, and I've been severely lacking in that department.

Sunday morning I woke up and that was the first time I had walked more than 2 blocks since I was about 6 months pregnant. However, because I am a runner my legs knew what they were doing but physically I was out of breath and I wasn't well hydrated and...well you get it! I'm a little sore today, but not terrible.

Color bombed!

The good thing is that I am now super motivated to get training for the Marine Corps Marathon in October which my husband is going to help me with — we make a great running team (he trained me for the 2011 London marathon) and this way we can spend time together without the kids. He is patient and always, ALWAYS pushes me to go further. I ran my first marathon ONE week before we got married so running has been "our thing" for a while now.
And naturally, I need new running gear because a mama has to look good getting her workout on. Time to get new shoes, tops and new tights. Exciting!
Are you planning any major fitness challenges or changes this summer?
¡besos!
