Coast Guard Says New Jersey Distress Call Likely a Hoax

The rescue call from a 33-foot sinking sailboat near Sandy Hook I commented on a couple hours ago now seems a hoax, according to the Coast Guard. The weather was ideal, they should have seen the boat or some debris, and no one has turned up missing, apparently. The Coast Guard can find no boat that matches the name and description of the sailboat from which the call purportedly came.  They are left to conclude the call for help was likely a hoax.
