I thought you might find these figures interesting. They are provided by The Washington Post (using FEC numbers), and show the amount of money raised for each presidential candidate.
The two leading Democratic candidates have raised more money given directly to their campaigns (which has a limit according to federal law) than any Republican candidates. Clintonn has raised $75.1 million, and Bernie Sanders has raised $41.1 million (and more than 90% for both of them has come in donations of $200 or less).
The leading Republicans on money donated directly to their campaigns are Ben Carson ($30.8 million), Ted Cruz ($26.5 million), Marco Rubio ($18.1 million), Jeb Bush ($11.4 million), and Rand Paul ($9.4 million).
But while the Democrats are the big winners in campaign donation, the Republicans have a huge lead with Super-PAC money (and other outside money). Bush has $108.5 million, Cruz has $38 million, Rubio has $33.1 million, Christie has $14.4 million, and Kasich has $11.5 million.
The only Democrat with substantial Super-PAC money is Hillary Clinton, with $17.1 million. Obviously, the big outside money (and dark money) in this campaign is going to the Republicans.
