Clint Dempsey Reveals Champions League Dreams

By Thetoaststaff

The Daily Mail had an interesting article today about Clint Dempsey and his future ambitions. Dempsey said in the article: “Right now I’m thinking about Europe and playing in the Champions League. That’s a goal.
Everyone wants to play at the highest level. If someday I get the opportunity to play for a big club in the Champions League, that would be great. I think it is good for Dempsey to make his intentions known now. Dempsey has arguably been the most successful American ever to play in England and now hopes to reach even bigger goals. The only American player to really get major minutes deep in the Champions League was DeMarcus Beasley with PSV Eindhoven in 2005. I would say that right now, Dempsey would definitely be able to play with a team like Manchester United or Arsenal but he would need to realize that he would have to prove himself once again in order to get regular minutes. Clint is an extremely versatile player that can play in the middle or out wide. He has almost a poacher’s mentality in regard to getting in the right positions for scoring opportunities. For his size, Clint is spectacular with his head. He could help out any team in that aspect alone as he is very dangerous during corners. Hopefully this article does not anger his many Fulham supporters, but I am glad that he has greater ambitions than just being the best player on a midtable team. I would like to see a Champions League club in England take a chance on Dempsey and let him prove himself on the big stage
