Clarisonic: Why You Should Be Using It on Your Skin Everyday!

The Clarisonic family of skin cleansing systems provides a sonic cleansing device for just about every need, and price point.  That’s great and all, but why would you even want to use a sonic brush on your skin? And why am I so adamant that it have a place in your skin care routine?

Squeaky Clean: Sonic technology

Electronic facial brushes have been around since the late 1960‘s, but the introduction of sonic technology at the beginning of the millennium changed the way we could take care of our skin forever.

This sonic brush moves at a frequency of more than 300 movements per second to gently get the best (and worst) out of your skin.  The speed and agitation helps the dead skin build-up, dirt, makeup, and oil come right out of the pores.  It also massages the facial skin for increased blood flow.  More blood flow to the face helps to remove toxins, and makes your skin more radiant.  Daily use increases your skin’s appearance and health dramatically within days.  This is why I recommend it for home use for all of my clients. I’ve never met anyone whose skin didn’t look better after regular use of the Clarisonic brush. Period.  Tweet this

Clarisonic statistics

These numbers are according to the Clarisonic website.  They also say that the sonic action clarifies and revitalizes the skin, without having to use harsh chemicals.

Which one is right for you?

There are currently 5 models available from the one-speed travel-sized Mia, to the 4-speed Clarisonic Pro.  All essentially work exactly the same way, the differences are the number of speeds, the size/weight, types of brush attachments, and the type of charger used.  In my opinion, the Pro model is overkill for home use–the truth is that you really do not need more than 2 speeds, and one speed is more than enough.  The model that I use on my own skin is the Plus, and even though it has 3 speeds, I only ever use one speed.

Let’s take a brief look at the two models I own.

Clarisonic Mia

The Mia belongs to the teenager in my house.  This age group has so much hormonal activity stirring up their skin, the best plan is to arm them with a skin care product that will help clear up their skin, that is easy to use, and maybe even a little fun (the Mia comes in 13 colors).

The Mia is not just for the teenagers of the world. Both the Mia and the Mia 2 are quite a bit smaller than the Plus and the Pro, which makes it a great choice to travel with.  The Mia can hold its charge for up to 20 minutes, or 10 face cleanings before needing to be charged again, and it doesn’t take very long to charge it full.

Clarisonic Plus

The Plus is a sturdy handheld device that comes with a convenient charger the serves as a stand for the unit.  The Plus will hold its charge for 30 minutes, or 15 cleanings. Aside from the additional battery life, the Plus has three speeds, and allows for the use of the body brush head (see below).

The accessories

The thing that sets the Clarisonic devices apart from any of their competitors is that they have a interchangeable brush heads that allow you to completely customize your cleansing experience at home.  If you have Normal skin, but want to do a deep cleaning, switch out the Normal brush head for the Deep Cleaning, and so on.

Body: The body brush head is a lot larger in circumference, and a bit stiffer than the other brushes.

Clarisonic also makes another device that I have reviewed, called the Opal Sonic Fusion System.  It is designed to address the fine lines around around the eyes.

Do you own, or have you used a Clarisonic brush?  Tell me what you think.
