City of Glasgow College Students Get to Meet Marco Pierre White

By Emma @glasgowfoodie

Catering students from City of Glasgow College got a chance for a chat with Marco Pierre White at his Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill Glasgow Steakhouse Bar & Grill at Hotel Indigo. The students picked up some valuable advice from Marco:

“Don’t waste opportunities: if you have a dream make it happen,” Marco advised. “Only you can do that. You need to stay focused and disciplined – and you also need a bit of luck. You don’t get many chances in life, so you need to make the most of every opportunity and, when you have a bit of luck, take it.”

Marco told the students to knock on doors. “The worst thing that can happen is they say they don’t have any jobs,”

“I started out working for nothing. There were no jobs available and I needed experience. Three weeks later I had proved myself and was put on the payroll.”

And as for what makes a great chef, he said: “Perfection is lots of little things done well; that’s what makes you a great chef, a great manager. But to achieve it, you must stay focused and disciplined. Being a head chef is all about being a pied piper. People need to follow and for people to follow, you have to work twice as hard. You have to have a dream.”
