Christmas in NYC …A Great Pink Time Out!

Posted on the 02 January 2014 by Jean Campbell

The weather was great for Christmas in NYC; it was clear and seasonal. It was perfect walking around and seeing the sights weather, and that is just what Jane Landry, the Christmas in NYC getaway winner and her husband Paul, did during their three day/night stay.

Arriving on the 18th, they stayed in the Marriott East on 49th Street and Lexington Avenue, in the heart of Manhattan.

In Jane’s own words: We had a great vacation in NYC. It truly was a special time with no agenda except to enjoy the city. Our stay started Wednesday night when we hopped the subway to explore the city and have dinner at Limon, a great Mediterranean food restaurant. We followed a tip we got from the Marriott concierge.

Thursday started with a great breakfast at the Marriott then off to see the Holiday Spectacular at Radio City. It was a great show, great seats and truly put us in the holiday spirit. Parts of it reminded Paul and I of the many years our daughter danced in the Nutcracker in Boston. That afternoon was beautiful walking weather, and we explored Rockefeller Center.

Next was the photo op back at hotel with the folks from No Boobs About It. Then it was off to dinner at City Steak and Lobster. It was the best meal of the trip with impeccable service. On the way to dinner we window shopped all the holiday decorations and loved the Saks display best.

Friday after breakfast, we explored more of the city via subway….Canal St, Bllly’s Bakery in Tribecca, pizza at Grimaldi’s, in Little Italy followed by desert at Sugar Sweet Sunshine with cupcakes from both bakeries to bring home to enjoy. We dropped purchases off at the hotel and went night skating in Bryant park followed by dinner at Celsius.

Saturday we slept in, had breakfast at the hotel, which was so good and servers so friendl, then we explored Central Park and Park Plaza food court . Finally, we headed home to Massachusetts. Great memories and a great time, thank you all so much!

Jean’s Note: On Thursday, the 19th, Joanne Clementoni, a NBAI Board member, Nornale Soriano and Edlyn Charles, two of the graduates of Allen School, in Brooklyn NY, whose fund raising efforts made this Christmas in NYC getaway possible, and I, visited briefly with Jane and Paul, and took pictures to mark the occasion.

The back drop for the photos….the Christmas tree in the Marriott lobby.

According to Jane, Christmas in NYC was what all Pink Time Outs are intended to be…a getaway from all things Breast cancer!
