Christmas Greetings in the Modern World.

Posted on the 13 December 2011 by Vandanan @vandanan_m

Christmas cheer is in the air, I still can’t work out how the world works, and yet another disturbing thought hits me hard. When I was a kid, people used to make lists and send greeting cards to all they knew, and my mother used to get a whole load of cards from her friends. We give cards still, but nowadays, I give cards to my classmates, and back- no long range posting and stuff. Then came mobile phones. When calls were made cheaper, people began using it to wish everyone merry Christmas and a happy new year. We still use them, but not more than the web-greetings!Things have changed now- it’s just searching free e-cards, filling out the detais, and clicking on send. No cards, e-cards.  In addition, many use E-mail to greet people. Wait a moment! It aint over! There’s one more- Social networking sites!

Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas, and all is now just a wall post away!Whatever moden thingummies we use, nothing can substitute the joy of receiving an envelope, and curiously, carefully tearing it out to reveal the greeting card and to see whom it is from! Greeting card prices are steadily going up, which is, I guess another reason to go for modern ways.Come to think of it, isn’t the best way to celebrate, is to be a family and have lots of fun?
