Christian Athlete Simone Biles Named AP Female Athlete Of The Year

By Firstladyb

Christian athlete, Simone Biles has been named AP’s Female  Athlete of the Year.  The 2016 Olympic games were her first Olympic competitions, even though the gymnast had already broken world records.  The 19-year-old with the electric smile and boundless talent was the best in the world. Maybe even the best of all time!

Simone Biles
Simone, who is a NY Times best selling author, (her book “Courage To Soar” is a must read in my eyes)  is the first female gymnast in history to win three consecutive world all-around titles. In 2015, Biles became the first woman to win three consecutive world all-around titles, surpassing legendary Russian gymnast Svetlana Korkhina who won non-consecutively three world all-around titles (in 1997, 2001 and 2003).

In only three appearances, Biles became “America’s most successful female gymnast (14 medals), and the first to win 10 World Championships titles.”

Her massive haul in Rio de Janeiro — a record-tying four golds to go along with a bronze for the dominant U.S. women’s team — propelled her to stardom and rendered her last name superfluous. Now there’s one more honor to add to what on Twitter is known simply as #SimoneThings: Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year.
