Chrissy Teigen needed six brown bananas so she asked Twitter

For those of you (like me) who always wondered why Chrissy Teigen shares so much on social media, it may have been revealed that there is actually a method to her madness. On Thursday, Chrissy was trying to make banana bread (presumably a recipe for her upcoming cookbook). Unfortunately, she was missing one key ingredient for said bread… brown bananas. Finding herself in a produce predicament, Chrissy took to Twitter to ask her foodie followers if hey could help her out in her time of need. She tweeted, “if u have 6 BROWN bananas in the LA area, I will send my assistant to your home with a signed cookbook, John’s underwear and a Becca palette.”

As expected, Chrissy got a lot of responses. To verify that the responders definitely had overripe bananas, Chrissy followed up with, “SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY. please send me a photo of u holding the bananas giving the peace sign.”

Among the people who offered to help out was one Meg Zukin, who only had five bananas. Apparently, the stars aligned for Meg, and Chrissy took her up on the fruit. Meg told Refinery29, “I saw her tweet this morning and replied with the photos of the bananas. I only had five, and she wanted six, so I wasn’t sure if I’d be worthy enough, but then she DM’d me and asked for my address and number. Then, her assistant texted me for details.”
SO CLOSE. she might kill me if she has to drive to multiple homes across LA https://t.co/k7bvlH93rO

Before Chrissy sent for the bananas, she asked Meg to send a video of her tasting them to make sure they weren’t tainted. Meg agreed and soon, Chrissy’s mom, Vilailuck, showed up with the swag. The event was memorialized in photos which (of course) were shared by Chrissy, the deal was done and Meg has a story for the ages.

Meg, a writer (a/k/a my kind of people), posted pics of her haul on Twitter. I probably should have known John was a Calvin Klein underwear kind of guy.
so…. should I frame the underwear or what? @chrissyteigen pic.twitter.com/Xs0lXXpuJ9

Fans tweeted Chrissy’s hubby, John, asking him if he knew his undies were used to obtain bananas. One Legend-ary fan tweeted, “we need to know if @johnlegend knows you just gave away a pair of his underwear,” to which the singer responded, “Yes and I approve. Can’t make banana bread without brown bananas!”

Cute story, right? It is, but I have questions. First, why couldn’t Chrissy go to the store herself? A quick Google search brings up lots of ways to ripen bananas in just a few minutes. (But Chrissy shot down offerings of banana ripening hacks.) Also, is her mom her assistant? I couldn’t ask my mom to go to some random person’s house for bananas I was too lazy to just run down to the store and get myself. Why is her dog wearing a bellhop outfit? Oh, and were they clean underwear? (I feel bad that I actually thought about this.) We need answers, Teigen. And the recipe because I also love banana bread.
Side note: John, currently appearing in an ad campaign for Capri Sun, told US Magazine that daughter Luna is already becoming quite the foodie at the tender age of 16 months. According to Jon, little Luna “eats grown up food,” adding, “She loves pretty much anything! We have traveled a lot and we’ve cooked a lot at the house and she pretty much eats whatever we eat. We just make sure it’s not too spicy. She’s had Asian cuisine, Italian, American and soul food.” Following in mama’s footsteps already. Hopefully she will learn to make a grocery list as she grows up. Sheesh.
