Choco Almond Popcorn Balls

Today's post is sponsored by Pop Secret but all opinions are my own.
I think it's safe to say we build a fort at least once a week. Whether we build walls and roofs or just pad the floor with blankets, we love to build forts and watch a movie as a family. Every Friday is also pizza night at our house, so pizza, popcorn, and a fort have come to go hand in hand!

But when I saw a recipe in a magazine for popcorn balls with chocolate and almonds, I was dying to try them. So along with making some Pop Secret popcorn for the movie (the little ones have come to expect it!), I decided to try these bad boys as well. I altered the recipe slightly and made some observations, so here are the ingredients I used. I also made some observations so I'll share those in a little...

Steps:
1. Pop the popcorn. 2. In large skillet, heat butter over medium-low heat, until melted. 3. Add marshmallows and mix until fully melted. 4. Add cooked popcorn and stir until evenly coated. 5. Add almonds and chocolate chips and continue to stir until popcorn is covered. 6. Remove pan from heat and let sit a few minutes. 7. Moving quickly, mold popcorn-marshmallow mixture into balls with hands. 8. Place balls on foil to cool.

People, these were absolutely delicious. The perfect combo of salty and sweet and the perfect sweet tooth fix after dinner! If you follow the recipe above, you will end up with a billion popcorn balls. And as I observed, they are best when served immediately or that evening (they seemed to get a little soggy as time went on), so perhaps cutting the recipe in half would suffice if it's just you and your fam. Or if you're throwing a pillow fort party, the recipe above would be the way to go!
Also, the original recipe I found suggested using a dutch oven and that would have been a lot easier! But I didn't have one so I used the next best thing. A skillet made it a little harder but it can be done.

Pop Secret family fun as become a tradition for us. I can remember building pillow forts growing up and I hope my children remember the same thing too. I try to be as hands on with my kids whenever possible, and teaching them to use their imaginations and spending time together is absolutely priceless.
You can also head to the Pop Secret Facebook page to get a coupon for $1 any box of Pop Secret popcorn. Even better, right?
So what are you waiting for?! Time to start constructing a fort and popping that popcorn!
