Growing up, my parents always taught me about doing good deeds for others. Not everyone has what you have but you can make their day by doing the smallest of things. You can smile at someone whose having a bad day, donate to a welcoming cause ( my favorites are Make A Wish, Children's Miracle Network and March of Dimes ) make a card for someone who just had a baby or purchase a drink for the lady whose running late behind you in the Starbucks line. Whatever your preference, sharing a good deed doesn't have to be a chore, but should be a lifestyle. Your good deeds are what you can leave behind for strangers and can be your best kept secret to improving other's lives.
My best friend Kimberly is one of those rare gems you find in life. She gives consistently to others by helping friends out with baking birthday cakes, encouraging girl's nights and always being a constant in my life. Her friendship is powerful, her wisdom vital and her love for her husband and sweet puppy are infectious. She's that girlfriend who will listen to you for hours when you just need to vent over a cup of hot coffee at Barnes and Noble, create a fun event for the two of you to share or laugh hysterically at some joke you made up on the spot.
