Simmons’ original Def Poetry Jam was a spoken-word poetry series hosted by Mos Def that ran on HBO from 2002-07. It was a spinoff from Simmons’ landmark Def Comedy Jam, which aired on HBO from 1992-97; that stand-up comedy showcase launched several careers including those of Chris Tucker, Martin Lawrence, Steve Harvey and Bernie Mac.

Word is Simmons has been talking with Chance since the Grammys, where the rapper took home three trophies including Best New Artist.
