Wasting no time at all, Isle of Wight’s Champs (brothers Michael and David Champion) are back with new single, “Desire”. Just a few months after the release of their highly praised debut album, Down Like Gold, “Desire” begins a new sonic chapter for Champs. The accompaniment of their haunting, gentle post-folk harmonies switches from an artful folk rock combination of piano, big drums and a choir of vocals to a distinctly 80s wash of synths and pronounced bassline. Combining the powerful, anthemic synthpop of HAERTS with the melancholic rock of The National, then adding in their own unique folk harmonies, “Desire” retains the intimacy and melodic delicacy they’ve come to perfect. Their second album, Vamala, will be out in February 2015.
