Caring for the Faux Leather Pieces in your Closet
Come Winter, One of the first things I reach out for in my closet are my faux leather pieces. They are like a second skin you can't do without in the colder weather + your best bet to being warm and stylish at the same time.
Faux leather pieces in a neutral color are the perfect addition to one's work wardrobe and can be used to create chic outfits by layering. However, here's what I realize whenever winter arrives - As much as I love wearing faux leather, it takes work to make it last long and keep it wearable.

Case in point - This faux dress I am wearing in today's outfit. I can't even tell you how many times I have thrown away this dress in a pile of clothes in my closet. Only to take it out the next time and seeing it all crumpled.

So, what can you do to take care of those faux leather dresses, skirts & jackets to keep them wearable?

Here are a few tips for faux leather care:
1. Make sure to hang all your faux leather pieces in a cool, dry place away from heat and sunlight.
2. Check if the clothing can be machine washed, if not, Use a mild detergent mixed with lukewarm water to wash it.
3. Always hang dry the clothing and do not put it in the dryer. The material tends to shrink/distort.
4. No matter how tired you are, Remember to put the clothing back on a hanger. It is kinda like taking off your makeup before you sleep but if you plan on wearing it again the next day, this is the quickest way of keeping the creases away.
5. If you are in a hurry (like me) and are planning to wear a faux leather piece that has creases on it (Again! Just like me), Try these tricks:
- When you are taking a shower, hang the clothing in the bathroom. This will help steam the wrinkles out.  - If that doesn't help much, iron the wrinkles out by placing a tshirt or a towel on top of the clothing and keep the heat setting to a low.
6. Apply a PVC moisturizer/ protector to keep oils and stains at bay. Keeping the faux leather pieces clean (less washing) makes them last longer.
