Brussels Via Instagram

By Littlebckpacker @littlebckpacker

I recently spent the weekend in Brussels and wanted to start my write up by sharing all of my Instagram updates with you. When I’m traveling Instagram has become my most used social media platform, I love the simplicity of uploading a photo with a filter and caption, then being able to share it on my Facebook and Twitter. Okay, it’s not that simple I use VSCO Cam to edit everything before I put it on Instagram and often I use Typic to add some text but I’m a very visual person and love a good Instagram update. Through these square images and captions you can get a good glimpse in to the story of 48 hours in Brussels.

Good morning. It’s 5am and I’m off to Brussels!

We’re off with a beautiful morning sky out of London!

The Grand Place buildings and sky in Belgium this morning. It was a beautiful sunny winter morning and although completely surrounded by tourists I felt so alive and free looking up.

Today’s lunch at Restobieres I opted for the Beef Stew as recommend in my guide book. It’s certainly lived up to the recommendation. Tiny restaurant and full of character, if you like hearty European food I would suggest it!

Couldn’t go to Brussels and not try a beer.

So these hot chocolate spoons are the best invention ever! You pop them in a mug of hot milk and wait for the magic aka melting to happen!

Mathilde, my new favorite chocolate shop. These slabs of chocolate looked fun and even had a good white chocolate selection.

My room at the Park Inn Brussels. Each room had a different pattern on the ceiling which was mirrored on to the carpet. Would fully recommend these hotels as they are perfectly located near stations/airports!

Looking forward to spending a night in the largest yet cosy hotel room at Park Inn Brussels. Feel so spoilt in such a lovely room. Love these hotels!

Good morning Brussles ready for day two of this #parkinnexpress adventure! But to breakfast first…

Breakfast at the #parkinn hotel while reading through my guide book for inspiration of the day’s plan.

It is all about the markets in Brussls today. This is their flea market.

The Midi market in Brussels this morning. Loved the sun light on this fruit stall.

Belgium is famous for its food, particularly chocolate. This is the Laurent Gerbaud chocolate cafe/shop in the royal quarter of Brussels. Apparently the hot chocolate was good (I don’t like the stuff so can’t comment)

The frites I queued for over an hour to get. Best in Brussels apparently…they just tasted like good chips to me.

Parc du Cinquantenaire (French for “Park of the Fiftieth Anniversary”) in Brussels. The centrepiece triumphal arch was erected in 1905 and is the center piece of the park. Incredible park.

Amazing sunset in Brussels this evening. This was taken from the top of the Atomium in the north part of the city.
