Bregenz Opera House – Opera House Entrance Landscape

The opera house in Bregenz is located on the shores of Lake Constance and provides a stunning venue for events both inside the building and outside on the floating lake stage. Designed by architects Dietrich/Untertrifaller, this venue provides a focus for opera lovers around the world.

Bregenz Opera House – Puddle Feature with Sculpture

The entrance landscape for this building is simple and uncluttered in design and allows for the free movement of large numbers of people when the enter and exit the venue for events. There is a large plaza paved with coloured tarmac in front of the main entrance to this building, this is bound by the building on one side and groves of trees on the others.

Bregenz Opera House – Puddle Feature with Sculpture

At the center of the plaza a puddle water feature with a sculpture has been placed. This provides a focal point for the center of this space and provides a play feature for children. Seating which is provided by the venue is often arranged around this puddle.

The newly planted groves of trees to the edge of the plaza are planted into the coloured tarmac surface. The planting pits are topped with an angular aggregate mulch, continuing the paved surface to the trunks of the trees. Mature trees which predated this landscape proposal have been incorporated into these proposals. A similar surface treatment has been adopted to that of the newly planted trees.
