By Colorado Beer Girl @colobeergirl

I love special releases! Especially from my favorite breweries. Odell just released the third of its six 2017 Cellar Series releases, each available for a limited time. Here is all the information you need about Brazzle Sour Golden with Raspberry.

Brazzle, Odell’s Latest Cellar Series, is Here!

WHAT: Brazzle Sour Golden with Raspberry, Aged in Oak Barrels. 5.4% ABV
WHEN: Taproom release TODAY (May 26)!  Official release is Monday, May 29th
WHERE: Available for a limited time in 750 ml bottles across Odell’s 14-state distribution footprint (Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas, Wyoming, New Mexico, Idaho, Arizona, Illinois and Iowa)
ABOUT: A bit of info from Odell: Some folks refer to the color of fool’s gold as brazzle, a radiant hue much like the golden raspberry. A rare find and unique treat, these tiny nuggets are sweet and juicy. Brazzle Sour Golden Raspberry is aged in oak barrels with wild yeasts and 300 pounds of golden raspberries. Don’t be fooled by the bubbly light mouthfeel and delicate raspberry sweetness. There’s a subtle tartness that is not quite sour enough to make you pucker. But will prickle the back of your tongue leaving a crisp and refreshing finish.
MY THOUGHTS: If you enjoy sours, get this beer! I personally found it to lean more toward the puckering side rather than just having a subtle tartness. It actually may be pucker-inducing to those with a lower tolerance for sour beers. I love sours, and to me this was spot on. The raspberry comes out more as it warms, so let it sit for a bit before drinking. It’s true it has a light mouthfeel, especially for being barrel aged. But that barrel aged flavor really came through in the end, at the back of the tongue. I am very pleased with this new release, and at 5.4% ABV, it’s an excellent summer beer to kick off the season with!
