My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I had received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

The story of Trace Elements revolves around an actress named Annika who plays the role of Nikki in a top-rated series called "Trace Elements." Annika was asked by the parents of a kidnapped girl, Linzie, to visit their home in order to get the girl to recover from her traumatic ordeal.

Linzie Ainsworth was kidnapped for ransom and was recovered alive by FBI agent Josh Saxon. The FBI wants to catch the kidnappers but Linzie has been too traumatized by her abduction that she has become almost catatonic. Her mother thought that having the lead actress of Linzie's favorite show to visit would help the girl come out of her shell.

The book is a quick read. It reminds me of the TV series Castle. The characters are likable and the pace is okay. However, I did feel that some parts of the story were rushed or somewhat clipped -- like those parts should have been longer and more elaborate.

All in all, Trace Elements is a quick and okay read.
