Sypnosis:

She dressed professionally, wearing a plum-colored fuzzy v-neck sweater that contoured to the swell of a rack I remembered so well, legs encased in a slim pencil skirt that embellished those creamy hips I could imagine naked with a flicker of memory, lips painted fire-engine red and that maniac-inducing fifties pin-up girl look that I’d dismissed as silly when the girls in college wore it – but that made her smoking hot.

Down, boy.

God damn Charlotte, my ex-girlfriend, had to be here, of all places. At a bachelorette party where I was a stripper, dressed in a cop uniform with pants that suddenly got way too tight.

And she had to be so fine.

“Ooooh, honey, you’re one big officer,” said a sultry voice behind me as I watched Charlotte in the other room, chatting with the bride.

A hand stroked my hip and hesitated before sliding a bit lower, filling a palm with my ass. “Arrest me, Officer. I’ve been a bad, bad girl.”

With one look at the source of the voice, my night went from Oh, man to Oh, no.
That voice? That hand?
That was my mother.

Review:

Random Acts of Hope is the 4th book of the Random series by Julia Kent but could be read standalone. This story started when Liam (male lead) was in his stripping gig and saw his ex-girlfriend who broke his heart five years ago. He thought that’s the only surprise he has that evening, but it turns out that fate really adores playing with him, because he saw his mom and had an awkward or should I say hilarious scene with her.

This story started with the guy’s POV and it was really funny especially when he saw his mom during his gig. I’ve been jumping back and forth which book to read from my TBR, but after reading those hilarious scene, I locked my decision and continue reading this story.

In its first chapter, its already obvious that the guy is still attracted to his ex even after what she did to him and so is the girl. I’m still in the first chapter that’s why I haven’t made up my mind which side I am in, whether from the guy who said that the girl cheated on him or the girl who said that the guy dumped him when he found out about her pregnancy over the phone. Yep, sorry for the bummer guys.

When I found out about this being a second-chance romance story, I thought the fun will end in Chapter 1, but dang! This author really makes some hilarious scenes, like I wanna roll in the floor laughing because it’s just too hilarious not to. I’m a known dialog reader, so it was really a surprise that I was able to finish this story in just one sitting considering it contains less talking. Aside from that, there were also a time that I find some scenes quite confusing. Not totally reader friendly but it was a very entertaining read.

The moment the conflict part was introduced, I’ve got to say that my first reaction was that I’m annoyed. But when I’ve got to know both of their sides and what they’ve been through, well, I’ve got to say that both of them had the reason why they did what they did before. But I still feel sorry for the girl, I mean, she’s been through a lot all by herself!

Well, it’s not totally obvious but this story contains pretty wild sexy scenes which is not suitable for young readers, but when I think of the “supposedly” sexy scene where they are trying to channel Christian Grey, I can’t help but laugh again. It was supposed to be a hot scene but the ending was epic. It turns out that all their bed scenes always involves blood lol.

For the characters, I can’t remember I feel animosity towards them for they all portrayed their roles pretty well and convincing. I’m not head over heels in love with Liam even he’s a rockstar, actually there were times that I want to hit him because he can be a jerk sometimes. But I’ve got to give him credit for making the first move even if he thought Charlotte (female lead) cheated on him.

I kind of like Charlotte’s character. She’s strong even after what she’s been through five years ago and dealt with it all by herself. It was also amazing how she was able to forgave Liam after all those things he did and said to her. If I was her, I don’t think I’ll ever forgive him. But well, that’s love.

In the end, the two of them finally found each other again and accepts each other’s flaws. The ending was ok, but it could have been great if (insert bummer) there’s a baby. But well, you can’t have all in the world eh?

I love a good romantic story how much more with fun scenes! It’s my first time from the author and I’ll definitely read more. If you love a hot romantic story with some scenes that could laugh your heart out which includes a huge boa constrictor and Esme (you’ll know who she is if you read this story *wink) , then Random Acts of Hope is definitely perfect for you.
