I love the Rosato & DiNunzio series and this book, Exposed, did not disappoint.  Philadelphia lawyers Bennie Rosato and Mary DiNunzio may end up on opposite sides of the same case, and their new partnership may end faster than it started.

The first series was about Bennie Rosato.  Mary DiNunzio, Judy Carrier and Anne Murphy were hired later on; then Mary and Bennie became partners. It seemed that lately the books were featuring Mary, but Exposed equally shares the lead with both DiNunzio and Rosato.  Because the story is so complex, it’s hard to sum it up in a review. While the story is complex, it was still very easy to read. The characters are believable and are very interesting which probably explains the strong attachment to the book as I read cover to cover in nearly one sitting.

Book Review: Exposed by Lisa Scottoline

When one of Mary’s dearest friends from the neighborhood is fired due to the cost of his daughter’s medical fees, she agrees to file a lawsuit for medical discrimination right away. On the very same day, Mary’s law partner, Bennie Rosato, tells her that their firm represents the parent company so that she will be unable to honor her agreement since it is obviously a conflict of interest for the firm. But Mary disagrees on Bennie’s interpretation of the law.

Mary then decides that she must sever her partnership in order to go forward with the suit and honor her commitment to her family friend, things get even hotter. Her client gets sued by Bennie’s client.  Before Mary can figure out what to do next, her client’s boss is murdered and he is arrested for the crime.  As is usual with Mary and Bennie, they get themselves in too deep and put themselves in some risky danger.

The book is well written and for anyone unfamiliar with the legal field, the story also provides a good view of how a law firm works. The plot continues to twist and turn and the suspense and mystery keeps building.  I can usually figure out the “whodunit” but I will admit this book had me at a complete surprise at the end.
