Black Sheep Coal-Fired Pizza... Some of the Best Pizza in the Twin Cities

By Homesmsp @HomesMSP

I had been driving by Black Sheep Coal Fired Pizza on Washington Avenue in the North Loop for years without stopping. When Smack Shack opened across the street I thought about it again... then when I learned that a client's son-in-law was chef I knew it was time to make a stop, but got busy and forgot about it yet again!

Then one day when we had company from Connecticut we were searching for the best pizza in the Twin Cities and it kept turning up on top pizzeria lists. I asked our son if he had tried it and he said he had eaten at their St. Paul location and it was amazing. Time to check it out!

We called for reservations on a Friday evening and were told no reservations... advised to come early (5-ish) if we didn't want to wait. Good advice! We got right in, but the restaurant was full with a line when we left.

The most awesome thing about Black Sheep Pizza was the crust... crisp but still chewy, thin but not crackery... the secret is their coal-fired oven, the first in Minnesota. But it doesn't stop there... they offer 10 inventive pizza combinations on their menu... or feel free to create your own.

Check out Black Sheep Oven Fired Pizza for yourself at 600 Washington Ave N, Minneapolis, MN 55401 in the North Loop... or at 512 N Robert St, St. Paul, MN 55102.
