Posted on the 10 February 2014 by Tftb @TFTB

Now that Bitcoins makes the news everyday, everybody is looking at it as a form a currency which might run parallel with our currency economy. Unlike the thinking of most early adapters bitcoin cannot easily replace our present currency or economic system. Its simply not feasible yet to call Bitcoin the future of currency. But for now it surely has penetrated the market and is being perceived and used as a form of currency in many areas.

Most had to rely on Bitcointy’s live ticker to know the current conversion rate which runs on Mt.Gox’s live trading rates. To make things much simpler and fit in our daily use Bing.com has added Bitcoin currency conversion to their search.

Just like you search for any other currency conversion on search engines, you just need to put in xx USD to BTC and it shoots out the real-time conversion of Bitcoins to multiple currenices based on data provided by Coinbase. Bing has more than 50 currencies in their currency search query. This can help a lot of people to quickly convert the BTC rate to their local currency on the fly.

As mentioned by Bing, this feature is initially available to people in the US, Australia, Canada, India and UK but will be rolling out to additional markets in the coming weeks.

Google is yet to add bitcoins to their currency conversion search query. They had recently announced they have no such plans to add bitcoins as a payment method to any of their products anytime soon.
For now its safe to say Bing won round.
