As regular Daily Constitutional readers and some London Walkers will know, on my days off I like to stride out and walk London. I'm a big fan of the Capital Ring orbital walking route and I love to walk the Thames. Many of the pictures and ideas that end up on this blog are born out of my rambles.
On Wednesdays here on The Daily Constitutional, I'll be sharing some snaps, random observations and the odd bit of trivia picked up along the routes of my wanders.
Yesterday, I wandered from East Finchley to Bermondsey. I set off just after the school run, and here's the route…
And here are just a few of the things I saw along the way…
The obedient hedges of Hampstead Garden Suburb - or Hampstead Garden Hubbub as it is in 2016. The traffic is dense at school run time and the extensions and subterranean pool/gymnasium building works are seemingly never ending.
Indeed, these three words best sum up Hampstead Garden Suburb in the 21st Century…
Plaques? Blue ones? Official ones? Not in Highgate. They award plaque to themselves in N6!

The viewing gallery is fantastic, but not without its problems. The residents in the fancy flats nearby are a bit cross that their homes, once exclusive glass eeries high above prying eyes, are now part of the vista from the Tate…
All over London the building work continues. The 18th, 19th and 21st Centuries still stand. The 20th Century, as this pic shows…
… is in the process of being rubbed out.
Down into Southwark…
… and into Bermondsey where modernity is peeking around every corner in Trinity Church Square…
A little further south, and the building work meets protest as fans of Millwall F.C contest a land grab around their stadium, The Den. Here's the blue bus publicising their cause…
