To mark our first birthday we've decided to select the BescotBanter XI, eleven of the greatest players to pull on a Walsall shirt

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------GK: Jimmy Walker - A Saddlers legend, many players have come and gone but 'Wacka' is the only real choice for a keeper.


RB: Colin Harrison - Walsall's record appearance holder with 530 games, a great servant to the club.CB: Ian Roper - Centre back stalwart, made over 300 League appearances for the Saddlers.

CB: Chris Marsh - Progressed through the ranks to become a massive fan favourite, departed for Wycombe after thirteen seasons and over 470 Walsall appearances.LB: Zigor Aranalde - Made over 190 appearances for The Saddlers becoming yet another fan favourite, surprisingly released by then manager Paul Merson after nearly five seasons.


RM: Darren Wrack - Signed on a Free Transfer by Ray Graydon, Wrack went on to make over 380 Saddlers appearances, was subject to a £600,000 bid from Fulham during his peak.
CM: Pedro Matias - Spaniard who spent nearly five years as a Saddler, great goal scorer with fantastic vision.

CM: Dean Keates - Over 200 total Saddlers appearances, extremely hard working play-maker, smallest big man in the team.LM: Colin Taylor - 400 appearances in three spells, left wing dynamo.


CF: David Kelly - Top scorer during the 1988 promotion season, sold to West Ham for a record £600,000.CF: Gilbert Alsop - LEGEND, nobody compares to Gilbert, scored 40 goals - two seasons in a row. One of the greatest strikers of his era.
