Berkshire Yum

Berkshire YumBerkshire YumOne of the highlights of my summer is the time I spend in the Berkshires.  The mountains, the lakes, the air...I really think it might just be my favorite place in the world. If I had the luxury, I would be there every weekend, and would just put on my sneakers and a great play list, grab a few dollars and walk for miles...
Berkshire YumBerkshire YumIn addition to enjoying the surroundings, I love the dining options.  These little towns boast so many fabulous restaurants, and rarely ever is dressy attire warranted.
In the past few weeks I have dined in many different places - Fuel (my go-to for coffee), Gypsy Joint (amazing salads), Bizen (best vegan sushi ever...the typical kind too), Martin's (scrambled tofu with home fries...) and the list of places I had no time to get to simply goes on and on.
Berkshire YumThe photos in this entry are from Xicoh, Allium and Rouge.  All are in Great Barrington, except Rouge, which is just 20 minutes away in West Stockbridge.  (If you find yourself there, pop into No. Six Depot for great coffee.)
Berkshire YumXicoh:
I featured my Herradura margarita (they have a tequila list with nearly two dozen varieties), the house special (super spice) guacamole with possibly my favorite tortilla chips, the lime and sea salt grilled corn and the tofu poblanu with onions and peppers and a side of refried beans...sooo yummy!
Allium:
I'm sharing the Brassica: cauliflower steak, kohlrabi, equinox mustards, carrots and heirloom beans in a green curry sauce which I enjoyed with "Shot & Chaser": Espolon blanco tequila with cilantro, cucumber, jalapeno and tomato water chaser finished off with a salty, spicy cucumber wedge.  That was one terrific meal...

I loved the celery root salad with the black truffle vinagrette, the olives and tapendae with warm, pressed pita wedges and the wild mushrooms...
Salivating yet?
Now that I've shared it all...I hope you live close enough to check it out for yourself!
