Beginning A New Series of Abstract Paintings

By Abstractartbylt @artbylt

After working on a series of ink drawings recently, I finally started a new series of abstract paintings.  Changing tools, media, and size always requires a bit of a transition for me.  The canvases are 48" x 48", a big change from 12" x 9" paper!

I began the canvases with two very different backgrounds.  In the first I blended colors from yellow oxide to burnt umber:

Canvas123500
   Canvas #123, 48" x 48" acrylic on canvas.

In the second, I painted a single background color:

Canvas122500
   Canvas #122, 48" x 48" acrylic on canvas.
