There isn’t a whole lot of information about Maine Beer Company on their company website. There is even less information about the beers they brew (they currently list five) beyond a generic description. Of the five beers that they make, I have so far had three: Peeper Pale Ale, which I reviewed in August, Lunch IPA, and MO Pale Ale which I am reviewing now.
Although I didn’t find much information about this beer on their website, I was able to find a photo of the label, which has a bit of information about the meaning of MO. Here it is:

Since I LOVED their Peeper Pale Ale and Lunch IPA, I was very excited to stumble upon this beer at The Foodery. Let’s find out if this beer lives up to my lofty expectations…
- Appearance: Clear, golden orange color. Fast rising head that tops out at a couple inches, and then slowly subsides to a half inch of thick, fluffy, tan foam. Lots of sticky lacing remains as you empty your glass.
- Aroma: Very fragrant citrus scented hops, i.e. a combination of grapefruits and tangerines. Mild, yeast infused funk. Light brown sugar sweetness in the background.
- Taste: Very well carbonated. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Starts off with some subtle sweetness. The citrusy hops kick in towards the middle, but the bitterness never overpowers. A well balanced sweet/bitter finish.
- ABV: 6%
I am happy to report that Maine Beer Company’s MO Pale Ale is yet another fine beer by this brewery. Smooth, refreshing, flavorful, and very well balanced with a nice combination of hop bitterness and malt sweetness that lends itself to pairing with a wide variety of foods. I really enjoyed this beer and look forward to trying the rest of their line up very soon.
